Recently I have been disturbed by the increasingly noticeable lump in my lower left abdomen, right above the pelvic bone. It seems as if I can feel the lump better when im lying down, but when I'm standing up or sitting down it's not that easy to feel it. Additionally, when I have gas, the exact same area where I have the lump feels bloated and sometimes it hurts.

It may be helpful to note that I have had this lump for quite a while. I am 16 now, and I believe I have had it since I was about 10 or so. Never really bothered me too much until now. What could this lump be?

[Edit]
Additional info: I have no family history of cancer, no hemorrhoids, no rectal bleeding, and no diarrhea. However, my stool is occasionally somewhat "corny" (sorry I have no better way of describing it). Please help me because I'm VERY VERY worried and I can't wait until tomorow for my doctor's appointment. Please offer some feedback. Thank you.

If you have had the lump since you were ten and you're still here at sixteen, it's probably not cancer. Overall, I suspect your anxiety over the lump is worse for your health than the lump itself, so don't worry! I'm not sure why you think you've had the lump since you were ten - or how you found it, etc., but I think you should be fine until your doctor's appointment tomorrow. Once you have your doctor's assessment, I'd be happy to answer any questions, but otherwise, I think you're doing the right thing.

I'm not trying to be funny, but could it be my sigmoid colon contracting and expanding as my feces and gas moves through? I ask this because when I have gas or when I have to go to the BR I can feel it more easily, but when it comes out it feels like it went deeper.
