so today i'm working my biceps and i started out doing some preacher curls. i got through 3 sets and my muscles were already blasted and i still had 4 other exercises to do with my biceps. i could barely get through any of them because my muscles were so fatigued from those sets of preacher curls. I am worried i didn't get a thorough workout today yet at the same time i am wondering whether its ok because my muscles felt so worn out even tho i did so few exercises today. I just don't want to regress in my progress what should i do about experiencing muscle failure to soon is this ok?

Are you doing 5 exercises x 3 sets?? Thats far too much for your biceps!! (unless you're on AS). 4-6 sets for biceps is plenty. If you can do 15 sets, you're not lifting heavy enough.

Fatigue is the *point* and the *goal* for hypertrophy. If you are physically unable to lift anymore, that's probably a good sign assuming that 1) you have eaten enough before working out and are not just tapped of glycogen before the muscle is truly fatigued, and 2) you are not lifting too heavy. If you feel tapped at curling say 60 pounds after three sets, drop the weight and go again. It's a great pump. However, I totally agree that 5 exercises at 3 sets each is really excessive for biceps though. If you can't get results from 2 or 3 exercises at a time, you're doing something wrong.

its just that the fatigue will only last a few hours. I will be back from the gym and a couple of hours later my muscles will feel like they did pre-workout. I don't know if this is a good sign that i am truly fatiguing the muscle because aren't you supposed to be sore the whole day and well into the next?

Not necessarily, but if you think that you're simply not working them hard enough to be fatiguing them, make sure that everything else is in check and/or change your routine.
