I am a compulsive eater, and I just can't seem to do anything about it. I do okay during the day with my eating. But after about 5:00 p.m. I just lose control. I put any kind of food in my mouth, and I just can't stop eating till I am so full, it hurts. Sweets are the worst, espescially chocolate. Does anyone have any help?! I've heard trying to eat fruit to help with sweet cravings, but that just doesn't do it for me. I love fruit, but when I want a certain thing, fruit doesn't work. Any ideas? Thanks! petlover

Hey Petlover!
I agree with the chocolate part!!! At the moment..Im not touchin chocolate. I find that...if u have only one chocolate bar....u want another the next day..then u find urself eating a couple a day....and it seems that u just cant satisfy this constant sugar craving...it's awful. If u can go the first few days without chocolate etc..u may just find that your sugary craving will go down. As for doing 'good' til 5pm......do u find yourself with nothing to do at that time of night? Is that why u tend to eat a lot after that time? When I was going through a bingein phase at night time...it was hard..but I ended up replacing sugary foods with like a hot chocolate at night instead. I aint good with advice....i just wanted to let u understand that I understand how hard it is for u. If, for any reason, my brain decided to think of a wonderful idea/solution...I will let u know:D

One thing that is good a curing a sweet tooth .........(and this is obviously great if u have one)....is to make fruit smoothies with a smoothy maker!!!!! They are simply delicious and extremely healthy and more-ish!!!:) I dunno how I'd live without mine:)xx

I have the EXACT same problem. My cravings dont start until the end of the day when my blood sugar is the lowest and my body is craving all sorts of foods. Try to replace your evenings with something to do.....(im giving myself advice as well as you...haha)....like reading, internet, going out w/friends. Sometimes I try to replace my cravings with the internet and reading..and my hands and my mouth get bored...and then I start thinking of all I could stuff my face with. Try chromium picolinate to establish stable glucose levels so your blood sugar doesnt drop at the end of the day. Thats the only success i've had in managing my nightly cravings. Good luck sweetie!!

Hi Petlover

This is what I have learned. First and foremost, do not deprive yourself of what you enjoy most (chocolate). This will make you binge big time. Let yourself have some and try to keep it a small portion, like maybe a candy bar. When I was doing the Atkins diet, I craved sweets so badly. I lived on sugar free jello and low fat vanilla cool whip which helped my cravings greatly. Now, one other thing I learned while on Atkins...if you have a horrible sweet tooth, just cut off a chunk of cabbage and eat away. The sweet tooth cravings will almost immediately go away. Its really true. I've tried it and it works.

How does cabbage stop cravings? It sounds unusual, but I'll try it. Thanks!
