I had quit smoking a few years ago for 2 1/2 years. I used Nicotene gum and xanax for the anxiety. Unfortunately I went back, dummy me. Anyway,
about a month ago I descided it was time again only I used a different approach that seemed to made it easier to quit this time. I used nothing to replace cigarettes, not gum or the patch or anything else including food.
It seems that because I didn't try to replace it I forgot about cigarettes. Nothing was constantly reminding me that I quit. If I were chewing gum or using another kind of replacement it would remind me everytime. Does this make any sense?
The first few days I was well lets say not in a good mood because something I loved to do was gone but as each day passes it gets a little easier and before you know it you wake up in the morning with no thoughts of cigarettes. The hours turn to days and the days turns into weeks and soon it will be months then years that you have gone without cigarettes.
Good luck to all those who are trying to quit, just keep in your thoughts that it isn't so bad, really, its not that aweful after all.

I agree with you .... I gave up ..for a couple of months with the patch ... and thought about smoking every day ...... then I had a q
1 week relapse... then I went cold turkey and replaced it with nothing - and the withdrawls were barely there. And yes, makes it all easier to forget about.

For me, the minute I over eat... or eat something very sugary, I think of smoking - so I have concentrated my efforts on not doing any crazy eating ... and that's done me a lot of good.
