Hi, well after going to doc, I was told to come home and do the epley,myself..... I did and mercy sakes. I had mild spinning on laying back--left side and very mild turning to right and again mild on nose down and then horrid spinning on sitting up, that lasted 1 &1/2 mins... I felt just awful. Sleeping in the recliner was pure misery--is there any other way to acheive the same results--maybe prop up in bed with pillows???? Got around 3 hrs sleep so am very tired. HOW long does it take to see any difference? Thanks for ANY help...Belle

Hi Belle,
WooHoo....you did it girl!! You're a brave one!! Did your doctor tell you to do it again if you need to?
I hated the sitting up part....I don't do it. But I think as long as you're about 45º propped up...that should be fine. Maybe if you typed in home epley, there might be some info?
Think of it as an experiment, you can always do it again. Your symptoms sound exactly like mine when I did the epley at home. I think the severe symptoms when you're sitting up are when things clear in there.
Doesn't your face feel like it's heavy? I felt totally zonked (like being in the twilight zone) for all the 3 days from not being able to lie down. If you're up to it....make sure you walk around and get your muscles moving. You might find that propping your legs up as high as your heart may while you're reclining in bed may take away some of the fatigue you're feeling. (you'll look like a "V") Drink enough fluids and try to make the best of the 3 days. At least you'll know what to expect after this process.
Keep us posted.

Hi Qunicy, well yesterday, the audiologist from the ENT's office called me in and she did the epley on me too. This time there was spinning on laying to left, a little with going nose down but none on sitting up!! Praise God. So, I get to add another night to sleeping up....Do you or did you feel the 24/7 motion too? Like being on a boat in very rough waters...Thanks, Belle

Hi, great.....it sounds as though this one was successful. I hope it stays that way.
I don't have that feeling 24/7, and even when I was really bad, I had days like that, days not so bad...it really varied, so I can't say I had it 24/7. My worst was like walking on a swinging bridge with people way behind me and way in front of me. That was awful....but that might be the boat feeling you are describing. Does it seem the same?
I kind of walk like I'm drunk a bit, depends on whether it's dark out or bright sunlight. I don't do that well on narrow paths, yet when I walk normally, it's pretty-well within a 5 inch spread. Go figure.
I hope you're feeling better tomorrow. Don't overdo, but don't overcompensate. Remember, you can always have it done again as many times as you need. It's not like surgery and can at least give you some relief from the vertigo (and hopefully from some of theother feelings).
I hope you improve daily,
Keep us posted.
