Hi all, I had to post as I'm beginning to think this VRT is starting to work. I have been doing the eye exercises now for 5 wks (am following Ilia's London VRT programme - you carry on with exercises til your are symptomless).

Just yesterday I noticed I shopped in a supermarket and felt 95%. Today I walked into town (15mins) - trying to do this more rather than use car - and felt again, 95%. Got to a cafe where I met friends and managed to have lunch and sit for 45mins - at this point things began to get more intensely dizzy - what I get is I dont know where I am in space, my body sways, dizzy in head and I go v v preoccupied and spaced out and clumsy. But I can normally only be in the cafe for 10mins before I feel like this.

I am also noticing if I go out or do something, the dizziness is less severe or wears off more quickly than it did. Like for instance, at the start of this nightmare, after a 10mins walk I would have to lie down for 30 mins.

Is tis what happens? The dizziness is still there but gradually we can do more and it lessens? I sure hope so. It's given me the much needed hope Ive been waiting for, for 16mths!

SUBS. You have been v quiet? A questions - do you think, a bit like Vicki was told, that the reason why many people dont get better for a long time is because their eyes dont match the new signals? Ie: Can just the eye exercises for VRt be enough for some people? Im not saying they are all I need to do as I highly doubt it and I intend to do the whole VRT programme but I have heard the eye thing being mentioned a bit?

Hi Ilia - promise will chat this weekend, will text you when am on. Hope you're feeling ok.

Hi Emsybobs,

Yes I think thats how things go, I gradually just started to feel like I could cope and found myself thinking about other things other than how I was feeling - I think this is a good sign. I work with a lady who had Labs for about 6 months, she said one day she just noticed that when she looked up it didnt feel odd, then it would feel odd again. Gradually these problem movements became less of a problem until eventually, very slowly they vanished. That was 4 years ago and she's been fine since. I dont think she did any VRT, just kept active and tried to stay positive.

Glad you're feeling better - long amy it continue.

Lizz, That is exactly how my frist run of this ended 3 years ago. I just gradually found myself not occuppied with the dizziness. Until I eventually didnt even remember having it..... I was like "Huh, I'm not dizzy anymore!". Also, your happier and you are able to go out more which takes your mind off of it as well.

Hi em,

Congratulations on your recovery. I have a question about your sitting in a restaurant. I can relate to the spacey feeling.

Where were you sitting in relation to your friends. Were there people passing behind them as you were talking to them? Were you facing a wall with a busy wallpaper or painting? Was it loud in there? Were you starting to feel more tense (sitting a bit stiffer or uncomfortably?).

I find that visual stimulation can do a number on my balance in some situations.

Hope you steadily improve.

Thanks to allf or your responses.

Quincy - this happens - when focusing on people - wherever I am to be honest - it is the focusing on a face that causes the dizzies. Ok, darker places are far worse but the more I sit the worse it gets. I often have to get up move around then sit down again - then I feel a little better. It is the brain/eyes trying to deal with it I guess but yes I agree, different wallpaper/certain environments can def worsen things. Hope you're ok xxx

Hi Emsybobs

..."better for a long time is because their eyes dont match the new signals?"...

It(VRT) is all important---but---there is not much doubt---in the mind of the medical research types---(that work in this area)---that good "Vision" with no complications is vital to returning the "BRAIN" to normal(compensating)---I believe that---also!!!!

..."Is tis what happens? The dizziness is still there but gradually we can do more and it lessens?"...

It is exactly what(and the way it) happens---for 99.9%---with highly complex, busy and dark---vision situations---getting better last.....

After all---when you are normal(no probs)---your "BRAIN"---is using 50% or more of it's processing power---to handle and sort out the visual image--it(you) is seeing---can you imagine---how much power is being devoted by it now---to sort out the visual scene.........

Further---the "Equilibrium Center" of the brain---has a bias --toward---using the vestibular system--for balance---when it(vestibular) became "screwed up"---the E/C of the brain had to shift---to your vision system for more of it's input---that is not bad---but it is not the best---because---your vision system---can be fooled---when it comes to your body's "spatial position"---the VRT Eye exercises along with the other VRT exercises---is re-establishing the normal Equilibrium Center input balance,i.e., vestibular--principal, vision and then Proprioceptive Information.

Yep--still at 100%---no problems so far

Hi!

What you are describing sounds alot like what I am experiencing now. I am having alot of 95 to 100% moments. Really feeling good alot of the time, but not all the time. Sometimes I have moments when I feel the symptoms but they don't stay as long and I am recovering faster. I know that eye exercises are making a difference for me. I really wish I lived closer to Chicago cause they have wonderful equipment that would probably help it along even better, but... have to do with the home exercises!
Anyway, I am so thankful to the Lord for feeling this good again. I laugh alot now and laughing, even smiling was tough for awhile. :)

Hope your days get better and better. Seems like several are starting to see some hope right now!!!

Vicki
