I am scheduled for surgery on March 26th and wondering if anyone has had this done? 2001 I had the Bronstrom procedure done and it has failed. I have already been told that I will be in a cast for about 12 - 14 weeks, non weight bearing for 10 weeks and on crutches for about 6 months. :( If this was to fail then my ankle will have to be fused.

This will be the fourth surgery on this ankle and I want it to be over with. I want to know what to expect pain wise and healing wise especially being as I have a 4 year old daughter. Thanks for any info.

I cannot give you any advice regarding the procedure you are about to undergo. I had a Brostrom Repair myself in August 2003, fortunately it has gone well. My suggestion is to do a web search, there are some with boards that are more orthopeadic in nature and thee are some sites that discuss recovery. I hope this procedure works for you. Best wishes - eko

I had the Brostrom repair done in 2001 and then a synovectomy in 2002. Everything was doing well until I fell and landed on the heel once again retearing some ligaments that were repaired and tearing others. I also have a problem with hyperflexibility. I guess I will see what happens after March 26th ( this may get moved up to March 12th ). I have read everything I can find on this form of reconstruction.
