I thought i would share with everyone my problem. As many people have this and dont know what is going on! i know i didnt!! took alot of research and not once did any doctor tell me about it. I had to find out myself and then run it by them and i was corrected on my discovery!

Functional dyspepsia is a stomach disorder, like IBS it is chronic and the only way in which a doctor can come to a diagnosis is by ruleing everything else out and assessing the symtoms present.

FD is characterised by stomach pains/aches, nausea and this can be food related but often isnt and the discomfort is there regardless of food.
But in some cases food can make you feel bloated and full and make the stomach discomfort feel worse. Some people get indigestion and can only eat smaller meals from it.

In my case food doesnt affect me, but if i eat alot i can feel full and sick!! I get nausea mostly as a result of the stomach problem not due to food.

With FD the symtoms can come and go! i can feel great for ages and then some days it can flare up and make me feel unwell!! it really is fustrating!

They say you get all the symtoms of a stomach ulcer but no ulcer or damage is present.
So when a stomach ulcer, inflammation(gastritis), gallbladder and liver problems have been ruled out and no acid reducing drugs help you probably have functional dyspepsia.

I have herd that antidepressants can help as they block pain signals, i tried them but couldnt tolerate the side effects.
Peppermint oil is good for indigestion and travel sickness pills are good when you feel very sick!! its often at night times when people feel the worst!!

I have had it over a year now! must admit i was quite ill when i first got it but i feel alot better now! yeah i will have it for the rest of my life but i am learning to manage it.

I am going thru some of the same things. I am trying to figure out if that is what i have. So Blondyclaire-how do you keep your dyspepsia under control now??? Please help me cause I can't stand feeling sick all the time. It's really stressful for me. I don't do anything or go anywhere anymore and i am developing bad anxiety because of this disease. I am considering antidepressants but i really hate taking drugs so let me know. Thank you!!
