This is my new name on here..I had to get a new one!(did somethin wrong..i'm not sure what 2 get banned)
I figured out what was my main problem all winter finally for sure. We took down the gymnastics equipment to store until next year(even though there isnt a next year for me in gymnastics=( ) and I could feel my lungs all "sick" again~coughing, short of breath. When we lifted the mats and the floor boards you'd be amazed at how much dust there was underneath! Literally piles an inch high all over! Not to mention moldy mats as they sit in the back room where they get wet and then warm...PERFECT breeding grounds for asthma problems & all kinds of illnesses.
As much as I love gymnastics, I'm happy that it's done now!
I noticed over the years there was a dramatic increase in gymnasts w/ asthma on the team..I wish there was some kind of regulations on cleaning that stuff, that just isn't healthy. Cuz I've been doing pretty good ever since I haven't been up that gym! Amazing huh..although I don't want 2 speak 2 soon as spring is coming up=(..

Welcome back. You know you shouldn't be doing stuff like that! The perfect way to get sick. I should talk, I just posted in another message how I got sick cleaning my basement. Is this gymnastics through school or a private thing? They should be more cognizant about keeping a clean environment. I am assuming that there are kids there. Perfect breeding ground for bacteria and other illness as well. I wonder if someone should talk to whoever is in charge. But it is so good that you do something to keep you active. This will definately help you in the long run. When I was first diagnosed in my teens, my very old doctor discouraged me from doing any physical activity. Back then, many doctors had a different outlook on asthma and dibilitating it can be. Actually, I am only in my mid 30's so it wasn't that long ago. They have come such a long way with the meds and stuff.
