Well,I thought I would let you all know I survived my first time wearing heels since my double bunionectomy 6 weeks ago! They wern't really high heels, but they were heels! They were strappy heels as a matter of fact! I did ok for the most part, but it was hurting pretty bad to walk by the time I got home! I am glad I was able to wear them as much as I did! I wasn't about to wear those goofy velcro shoes or tennis shoes with my formal dress!! I came home and soaked them for a long time and I am doing pretty good now! Let me know how you are all doing! Oh, that's great that you're able to start wearing normal shoes again! :) I'm only at 2 weeks, so I can barely apply weight on my foot--it feels like my foot will explode if I step too hard. But I'm very hopeful that soon I'll be able to walk with normal shoes again. Do you have any walking tips for us early people so that we could progress as fast as you did?
Thanks!

Hi RR! I wore heels too!
2 1/2 inches in fact on a 3/4 inch platform made out of stretchy fabric in a mule style (otherwise my surgerized foot would not be able to fit into my usual size or with a closed back)
I stood at the party practically the whole evening and was okay (although I did drink some so that may have "anesthetized" it)
except when I got back, not only my foot but my entire lower leg was incredibly swollen (but recovered overnight) so probably will not be wearing heels again any time soon (unless an occasion arises again)
yay for getting into a "normal" shoe again, although only for a little while!

Sweetficus- My heels were about 2 inches and I know what you are talking about with the swelling! It happened to me too! And, my feet have both been pretty sore today, but not unbearable! I also had a few drinks and I think that helped me make it through! I did alot of standing also so i am sure that is why I am a little sore today.....maybe I should have waited and had the drinks today!!!! ;) It sure felt good to at least look like normal, even though I don't feel like I am!!! Yah for both of us for wearing heels! i am not sure if we are brave or crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Carlos95-Thanks for your reply! I hope you are getting along ok! It takes a while, but I am sure we will be glad we did it and even more glad it is behind us! As far as healing quickly, my best advice is to really take it easy for the first 3 to 4 weeks. Don't move anymore than necessary and always keep your foot elevated! I still keep mine up anytime I am sitting down, and I really think that helps! Good Luck!

Y'all are an inspiration. If I could just get my big toe into my flats, I'd join you (I don't own any high heels). Today, I have a flat on my left foot & my tennis shoe with sock on my right. I get some comments about that!

All I can say is OUCH  on those high heels! I am 7 weeks post-op and don't anticipate wearing heels for months!
