My question is that i am supposed to take this every 4-6 hours as needed for pain but the effects last only an hour and a half. I'm taking norco. Is this normal for the effects to last this short of a time?

Is this normal for the effects to last this short of a time? Sponsor Banker 02-22-2004, 06:28 PM Just about - that's how addiction started with me. They didn't last long so I started taking them more frequently, then more pills more frequently, etc. Actually, the pain relief should last about 4 hours but the 'buzz' only lasts about an hour and a half... at the most! At least, this was my experience! John 3:16 02-22-2004, 06:39 PM I agree with Banker and that is also how I got hooked. Would get a terrible headache and take my pain meds and a couple of hours later the pain would start blazing back. At first, I had self control and could wait 4 hours, but eventually my head would hurt so bad I would just rather "not quite follow the directions" than to have such pain! Sorry you aren't getting adequate relief- good luck, michelle dsny 02-22-2004, 08:39 PM I started taking hydro's for a legit back problem but the only problem is,I started to like them to much after awhile. If I were you I would try a non narcotic solution because more often then not you develop an addiction.I was taking maybe 2 pills every 3 days and that turned into 30 to 35 per day. Ken feelbad 02-23-2004, 08:39 AM The way and just how well your pain is treated with pain meds is usually more dependant on just what is causing the pain and how well the drug is suited to that particular type of pain. The effects can last much longer when dealing with pain that is less severe and vice versa. If you are referring to the fact that you no longer can "feel" (as in the warm fuzzies and euphoria)the effects of the drug, that is a whole different story. Marcia jamesjackson 02-23-2004, 09:12 AM Thanks for the replies. I'm taking it for my ankle because I tore ligaments in it and am trying to go back to work(which requires me to walk on it). The relief just doesnt last nearly 4 hours. I really dont get the buzz from the pills, probably because I'm in a good bit of pain. I'll try not to start taking more, I've heard enough horror stories from this board. |
