View Full Version : Perimenopausal at 39?

I'm wondering if I'm perimenopausal...the worst part is I'm having anxiety attacks; emotional; migraines; hot flashes and my periods are light (like spotting) for three weeks then really heavy for about four days. My worst time is immediately after my period. I had normal pap and waiting for results from an ultrasound. Meeting with a gynocologist this week and am going to inquire about a blood test for hormone levels. I'm taking Levoxyl for thyroid and have kept a good eye on the levels. I also am on Zoloft (SSRI) and have been for 5 years. I'm taking 100 mg/day. If this is it, I'm not ready to deal with 10 more years of it...what are your experiences?

Okay... the gyno completely dismisses that it could be perimenopause. Ultrasound shows nothing abnormal, so I'm headed for a D&C. I'm not sure
what to think of that.

Lots of women in their 30's are perimenopausal. What's the reason for the D & C?

Since I have abnormal bleeding, they want to check the endometrial lining. I guess you'd say it's a diagnostic D&C.
