I posted earlier that I had a fungal lung infection. I'm finished my second set of antibiotics and I still feel horrible. I feel almost crippled because even walking makes me short of breath... :( I was even in the emergency room this weekend and when they released me I was only breathing at 60% ....

Does anyone know what I can do now???

What's the name of the med you're taking?

um, first i was on biaxin (not sure of the spelling) and i just finished ciprol. both were 500mg twice a day for ten days.

I'm not sure of the type of infection, only that he said it was fungal.

Is IV antibiotics a possibility? Or injected..that really helps to get things moving! I know Levaquin is available as an injection, thats approved to treat pneumonia.

No wonder you're still feeling sick. Both of the things you took are for bacteria. Antibiotics don't work against fungi. You need an antifungal drug, such as itraconazole. But what you really need is a sputum culture to see what exactly you're growing so the doctor can choose the right antifungal.

I agree with Rachel. If your infection is fungal the antibiotics won't help. Ask your doctor to do a sputum culture to correctly determine WHAT kind of infection it is.

Also, the Biaxin if taken with milk products or calcium supplements doesn't even work like its supposed to. The pharmacist told me this, even though they don't list in on the medication directions.
