About 4 yrs. ago I had unprotected sex with a co-worker and continusely for 4 years (was in love). Don't even know for sure if he is postive....I've never been tested, and i know i should be but don't feel emotionally stable to get the test for fear of what the result would be. I've had blood work done plenty of time in the past 4 years, and i'm almost sure that if something was wrong with my wbc, that they would further invesgtiate, right? I know that they have to check specifically for the antibodies.
anyway.....if someone was exposed 4 yrs ago.....would they have symptoms by now??? i havent experienced any symptoms, but just goin crazy over this......the minute i think of it...i get an instant panic attack. I have a doc appt. today and am thinkin about tellin the doc i want to get tested, but just to terrified

it is absolutley ridiculous to not get tested. it is your body and your life. why live in fear like this? the chances of you contracting HIV are very very low. i was in the same boat as you, scared to death. i finally got the test and it is negative. there is no reason to live like you are. just get the test done so you can go on with your life. in regards to your question, you may be seeing symptoms now, usually 5 years is when you would see problems come up, and no a CBC doesn't really tell you anything in regards to HIV. just get the test, it is easier than you think. good luck.

:) do not let guilt interfere in your relationship, you are fine with regards to HIV. I know it is the most the most feared/stigmatized consequence of SEX. That is perhaps what is feared. Please confront your difficulties from this standpoint, and do not dwell on whether or not you contraceted HIV. It is a very difficult disease to catch. Get the test to ease your mind, and live comfortably.
