Marcia,

Thanks for checking on me. I'm doing fine. Actually had "technical" difficulties with the boards all day Saturday and couldn't post. But, it is fixed so, I am finally able to post again. As far as my son goes I did get a new appt., with a different Psychiatrist, for the middle of March. He does currently see a therapist -- who has been great. He is the one who thought my son should see a Psychiatrist because of his sleep difficulties. I think I have mentioned this before, but I my son has always been an "old soul" .. When he was five I would say he was "Five going on 80!". Since he is my oldest I think he has been the most impacted by my husband's addiction .. actually my husband and I separated when my son was five (before we had any other children), and he would worry so much about my husband that he would have to call him every night "to make sure his daddy was ok". I think I have said my husband's relaspe is fairly recent, so my little ones, had never been as impacted by my husband's addiction as my oldest. Now, my son seems more angry at his Dad and worries constantly about me. Whenever he has been tested he is never considered "clinically" depressed. The thing with my son (as I am sure you have all seen in your own children) is he is very high functioning -- an overachiever, very involved in school activities and highly creative. It is strange though, out of all of my children I think my oldest would be the most upset if my husband and I do separate. My younger children just tend to go with the flow. I do agree .. that we need to go to Alanon, I think that would be very helpful for my son .. I think he just worries so much and is trying to control things he really has no control over. He really is a sweet, sensitive young man. The one thing that does help him sleep is Benedril (it relaxes him enough to get to sleep), he sometimes gets hives so it also keeps those under control. Anyway, I will keep you posted. Thanks again for your input and concern!

Mart, Glad to know that things are good.Your son sounds so much like mine with the anger at his father and feeling like he has to protect me.No kid should have to deal with all the adult issues to the point that they are.You are doing the best possible things for your son in the therepy dept.I am taking my son to a new psyc this afternoon. He is still dealing with alot of crap.He is still my happy go lucky "baby",but I see so much pain sometimes you know?It is so much harder to watch your kids go through this kind of stuff, even more than all of the junk that you have to deal with.Keep me posted on your boy.Maybe we can compare notes. Take care Mart, Marcia
