Has anyone experienced involuntary muscle spasms with fibro? I can't remember having this symptom in the past, but then I can't always remember what happened ten minutes ago so maybe I did. Anyway, lately I've been very shakey and am having these spasms all the time. Some are in my arms, some are in my legs, many are in my abdomen area. They are not charlie horses or muscle cramps, they really strong twitches. I'm just wondering if this is yet another symptom or is this something new that I should consult my doctor about. Also, I am having a lot of pain in my left breast. I have experienced "chest wall" pain in the past, at one time I really thought I was having a heart attack. I don't think this is heart related, it is actually high in the breast/chest area. Please let me know if you've had these symptoms.

Hi,
I have been silently cruising this board for a while now. Something is going on with me but the 3 times I've been to a Dr. about it, kind of just gets brushed aside. Background: a little less than a year ago my family and I moved. Only 20 miles from the town we did live in but still an adjustment. So last summer I started noticing things: intolerance to exercise, used to be able to push mow the lawn (about 1 hours worth) but it was becoming a major pain literally, and back pain for days on end. I started suspecting thyroid but 2 tests have come back normal. Then this past Jan. my mother was diagnosed with stage IV cancer. Things really started kicking in gear then. Felt like an ever tightning belt was around my upper body, muscle burning, anxiety, chest pain. Got prescribed an anti-depressant. Still left with back pain, and I have a pain in upper left chest area also that doesn't go away. Even had a mammo done. Sometimes I think it is referred pain from back. Another strange thing, my face is so puffy and bloated in the morning. It kind of goes down as the day progresses. Anyone else have this type of symptom. I have not been diagnosed with Fibro but feel I have alot of symptoms. Sorry about the long post.

Thanks, Wittesea for your input, I always appreciate your comments. I won't say I'm glad to hear that you have twitches too, but at least now I know I'm not alone. ;)

As for the chest wall pain, when you mentioned pluresy, that makes sense, and I hadn't even thought about it. I've had a really bad cold/cough all winter, it very well could be why I'm noticing more pain right now. And of course I do have anxiety attacks too, this morning I thought I would go through the roof, for no apparent reason, I was hyper-ventilating and everything, gotta love this disease!

Thanks again, how's your husband doing? All the best to both of you.

Wittesea,

I noticed on your quote that you have had ovarian cysts and endometriosis on top of other things. Have you suffered from abdominal adhesions at all??
I also have fibro, cfs, plus degenerative disc , osteo, anemia. Ive had 3 surgeries, an appendectomy, then the removal of cysts and one ovary, and 6 months after that, the removal of the other ovary (cysts) plus the uterus.

I suffered with abdominal adhesions shortly after, but that was when I was 26, when i had all that done. I am now 49. At the time, about two months after the last surgery, i kept telling the surgeon that my side was hurting and he kept telling me i was probably depressed due to the hysterctomy. He did say afterwards that i did have adhesions, my bowels were stuck together and to some organs and he cleaned it up. He said adhesions shouldnt hurt tho. His advice was to see a psychiatrist, which i didn't. Later my internest said it was probably adhesions and she SAID oh yea the DO cause pain and can cause severe pain as well as obstructions. I was placed on elavil which helped for a while. THe pain came and went off and on for years.

Then this last Thanksgiving it came back with a vengance. I was hospitalized on Dec 29 with severe pain and dehydration and had a colonoscopy done and it is normal, except for a LONG colon. Im thinking its the adhesions back again and will probably have to have a lapo to check into them. The only thing is that when you remove adhesions, they always tend to come back in a very short time. Was just wondering if youve had any problems with adhesions??
Thanks,
jen

Hi sweetie,
Yes ive had LOTS of trouble with spasms and twitches. Have you tried taking calcuim with magnesium tablets?? My doc recommended that to me when i went in complaining about spasms and twitches, and oh the ones in my stomach felt AWFUL., very weird. I noticed that if im taking the supplements the spasms and twitches go away, but if i stop , neglect like i sometimes do, they tend to come back.

Hi Jen,

I actually did take calcium and magnesuim for about a year right at bedtime because my friend with fibro told me that would help my RLS and it did for a while. Then my internist started me on Mirapex because the RLS got really bad and I stopped taking the calcium and mag. So I'll try that again, it makes sense that if it helped for the legs it might help for the rest of the twitching. You mentioned the ones in your stomach, oh my gosh, those are indeed the weirdest things! I thought I was imagining it at first, but I wasn't, so strange! Thanks for the input!
