My 6 month old is on the pulmocort respules and albuteral, twice a day for about 10 days now. He was very happy, and hardly ever cried. Now he is miserable. He wakes up 3-4 time during the night, crying. He acts like he is out of it at times and loves to stare at the lights and cealing. The steroid seems to be having an affect on his personality, I believe. I told the MD, I wanted to cut down on the steroid to once per day she said it was OK. However, I am concerned about his personality change from happy baby to unhappy baby. this is a similar pattern we went through with my 3 year old, although he didn't have asthma. The main problem is that my 3 year old is being worked up for autistic spectrum disorder. I haven't much experience with steroid use although I know they can affect you mentally. Does this seem like a common side effect for my baby to have??

If you are not already doing so be sure not to be giving your baby tap water with anything he or she drinks. If it has chlorinated water in it he or she could be suffering just as my 3 year old did.
I switched to bottled water from the store and she was cured.
No more asthma treatments no more antibiotics
no more coughing or suffering as she had for 10 months.
The only symptom that remained was 3 times a week she would take a bath and she coughed the morning after the bath. Again she was breathing in fumes from a warm bath in a small warm closed room. Moisture filling the room...you get the picture.
I'm not trying to say asthma does not real...I'm just know that my children can't be the only people on earth with a severe sensitivity to chlorinated water.
Check with your water company.
