My interest stems from the fact I have been burdened with nasal polyps for the last two years beginning 60 days following my retirement date of 08/31/99. I've been diagnosed as a triad of symptoms asthmatic. That is: one who has an allergy and asthma plus nasal polyps.- - - Two allergy tests ( taken two years apart ) failed to identify the culprit allegen. Have been on a diet of Claritin-D. Yes, half of a pill works good for sleeping.- - -I'm still in denial about the asthma diagnosis. Never had an attack. Peek flow meter never below 550. Am using Azmacort,Accolate and Serevent. Yes, I carry my Albuterol.- - -I'm still loaded with nasal polyps even after 4 surgical removal proceedures. One ,in hospital 2 1/2 hr. surgery and three in office "snip snip" type of proceedure. Infection followed ( by 3-4 months ) each of the 3 office visits. Alternate the use of NasacortAQ and Flonase. Can't use aspirin anymore. Never had a problem with it before. Did have an experience with Ibuprofen (600mg. )which I describe as difficulty in breathing as if I were being hugged by a bear. The purpose of this message is two fold: 1. will appreciate receiving any updates relative to the polyp problem. Keep in mind that nasal polyps are incurable because doctors don't have the foggiest idea what causes them which leads to my 2nd. purpose. 2.Research as many polyp cases as time may allow. In depth fact finding mission to discover anything that may lead to some answers. It's up to you now,the viewer with nasal polyps. A good start would be to tell all since your first polyp. Family history of polyps ? All data will be provided to researches at the Mayo Clinic.

The following was taken from a topic posted by:Hong-Ryul Jin from The College of medicine,Chungbuk National University,Korea.---" I am interested in clarifying the roll of NO in nasal polyp formation. In my study,iNOS is expressed in the epithelium of the nasal polyp and the amount of NO in the nasal polyp is increased compared to the normal nasal mucosa. In my opinion, the inflammation process involved in the formation of the nasal polyp may be the cause of increased NO in the nasal polyp. If someone who has interest and ideas in the roll of NO in the nasal polyp, please join."
