A dear friend and co worker was recently diganosed with Leiomyosarcoma, originating in her heart of all places. She has tumors in her superior vena cava, left atrium and left juggular at the present. All other scans have come back clear. SHe leaves for MD Anderson at the end of the week. I am wondering if anyone else has ever had this type of cancer or know of someone who did. Surgey is not an option given the location, and radiation will destroy her heart and trachea. Chemo is her only treatment option unless MDA has some type of miracle study. I was just looking for someone who has been there.

Hello..actually I too am just beginning my research on this type of cancer. My mother in law had it 5 years ago in the form of breast cancer however, this was before I met my husband so I wasn't involved at the time. She has recently undergone surgery to remove a malignant lymph node and is now faced with the treatment option of chemotherapy...which, as I am reading on different leiomyosarcoma websites..does not work for LMS?! So..we are trying to do our homework before she makes the wrong decision for treatment..I would be interested in what you learn as well and will continue to check back!
Thanks!

my daughter has liposarcoma (soft tissue tumor) they won't let us post websites here so contact the american cancer society and they will give you alot of information. **** also is very helpful (american cancer organization)
you are on the right track, get as much info as you can and educate yourselfs as much as you can. and ask questions , write them down when they come to mind. it is rough i know so hang in there.
