View Full Version : Buki Tonsillectomy - 12 days later

Well, it's been almost two weeks and I'm finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. Went nearly the entire day meds-free and am trying to switch to Tylenol PM sted hydrocodone at night. Now I just feel like I've got swollen glands and a very sore throat. (I'm wondering if antibiotics might have helped but I wasn't prescribed anything post-surgery). I was able to eat a fairly 'normal' meal for the first time today (though my digestive system wasn't too happy with me). I'm still easily fatigued and in some 'discomfort' but compared to the way I felt just 4 days ago-- I'll take it! I'm praying it's all downhill from here. Just thought I'd put my progress on here for comparison sake. It really helped knowing how others fared at similar stages of the game. Bottom line: when people ask, 'is it really as bad/painful as everyone says?', the answer is: YES!!!! But 2 weeks later, it really does get better.

Buki,

Thanks for the update! I get mine out this Friday. I have been reading the boards for awhile now so I can have an idea of what to expect.

Good Luck! My only last words of advice would be to take the medication as soon as the pain starts returning (screw the 4-6 hour directive that may be on the label. 2-3 hours between doses will probably become the norm for a while). And lots of crushed ice for the first few days!!

Im glad your starting to see the light. But you will probably still feel fatigued for about a month at least thats how I was. Good Luck with your tonsillectomy amy.

Thank you both for responses.

My husband says I am psyching myself out by reading these boards, but I have found everyone very helpful!!

Thanks again.

Amy
