New to the forum. For those interested, I'm in the process of finding out about asthma and firefighting and law enforcement jobs with the federal government. Once I get more info, I'll post it here.

This is what I know right now.
Inhalers are no longer allowed on the fireline because they pose an explosion hazard due to intense heat near flames. Persons with exercise induced asthma are encouraged to get a new pill.

I passed the fire physical even with exercise induced asthma, so long as I had my medication.

I'm still working on the federal officer standards.

Anyone on this board who knows anything else?

You could ask about Singulair. Works great for exercise induced asthma! It's a one a day pill, taken at nite.

Or you could also ask about a DPI to use. This is a dry-powdered inhaler and does not burst in hot flames...
