i was just wondering if anyones pulmonologist orderers pft's when they go in for a visit. mine orders one each time. if i had had those earlier i wouldn't have gotten permanent scaring in my lungs from this "undertreated" asthma as they are calling it or "fixed asthma"

My Dr does a chest xray each time...and a pft (a formal one) twice a year. The first one he did i was near disability level...since then ive had two lung collapses, surgery on both lungs and part of a lung removed (emphysema.) Now my pfts arent normal by any means..but twice as good as they once were.

I also now get PFT's, but don't understand a lot about them-I know my lungs are finally in the low normal range and that's really good, considering I was on life support for 2 1/2 months and had 9 chest tubes(due to ARDS) but I would like it if someone could explain what each thing on the PFT's meant.
Thanks and God Bless.
