I know she wants to stop and I want to help her but I don't know what ave she can use since she is prego? None of the websites I have been to have said anything about preganacy

I found a website with this exact quote:

Is it safe to take methadone during pregnancy?

You may become pregnant while being maintained on methadone. Abusing heroin during pregnancy is dangerous to both you and your fetus. Methadone maintenance is the best way to help you maintain a normal pregnancy. This treatment is not likely to affect the development and cognitive functioning of your baby.

Hope that helps, and I hope she will confide in her doctor what she is going through. :)

There is a website devoted to methadone and suboxone maintenance. I'm not allowed to give you the exact link, but it's called Addiction Treatment Watchdog (atwatchdog.org, I think??), and you can get a LOT of feedback there. Methadone is perfectly safe AND ADVISED for a woman in your friend's shoes. I hope you can get her to a clinic ASAP!! You DEFINITELY don't want her shooting God-Knows-WHAT up while she's pregnant!! If my reference to that website gets deleted, which I hope not, since it would be to your friend's detriment in this situation, then try doing a search for ADDICTION TREATMENT WATCHDOG. Good luck!

Still there are all sorts of unknown additives--potentially lethal, if not to her, then definitely to her baby. Might be a different story if it were guaranteed 100% pure heroin, but with street drugs that NEVER is the case. They are ALWAYS CUT WITH SOMETHING. PLEASE GET HER TO A CLINIC ASAP!!

I was addicted to hydrocodone when I became pregnant. Thankfully my baby was forcing me to throw up what I TRIED to ingest before I even knew that I was, and I actually quit just before finding out. But if your friend is unable to stop, maintenance is the ONLY answer, and you'll find that there are PLENTY of healthy babies born to maintained moms. PLENTY.

People who are addicts are very sick people. They have no control over their illness which is why I'm sure she has treated you and others like crap. They have only one priority which is to get their drugs and to try and not go into withdrawals. It's a horrible, deadly cycle so I really am glad you are trying to help her, despite her actions in the past. I'm telling you, once you become addicted, you no longer are the person that you used to be. However, there is hope for addicts, thank God. I'm on Suboxone and doing great, however, that has not been approved for pregnancy whereas Methadone has. She needs help or she is going to be in a lot of trouble when/if something happens to that baby! You are obviously a caring, good friend and she is lucky to have you. Of course, so is her baby.
