within the past year i have had a couple of eposides where i got really upset (such as an argument with someone) and then just felt breathless. I always thought emotins triggered asthma was just in peoples heads. the pulmonologist i went to said that kind of attack is real and just happens to true asthmatics. he says you must try to stay calm(lol) Has this happened to anyone else? I tell my husband i have to stay calm remeember what the doctor says,(when he tries to argue, lol)

I have had episodes where I've been very tense, upset, or emotional and at the same time been feeling asthmatic. Sometimes I'm not sure if the emotions brought on the asthma or the asthma brought on the emotions.

I've had attacks brought on by stress. I've had some doctors tell me that it's not possile, and others who say it is. But I know stress can be a factor in my asthma.
Stress and anxiety bring on difficulty in breathing. A small benzo dose when needed can help fairly quickly, such as Xanax. Try at home first, no driving, etc. and take a small dose. I have asthma and a few times it got worse when I got upset. I now take an AD and a benzo at night and I am ususally fine; I also take Serevent and Flovent 2x a day. It's not all in your head.

I've always believed that stress and emotions play a big part in how our bodies work in relation to it. I've often felt breathless in a course of heated discussions, or zipping around the house to fast)from breathing irradicully. I have mild asthma (meaning I've yet to have to use an inhaler in all these 10 years since diagnosed) During a really bad episode I take a xanax and it does calm the symptoms.
