VL we haven't heard from you in EONS...how are you doing?
Hope...I don't remember when your baby is due, are you getting close or have you had it. What's up with VL and has his "struggles" ebbed any?
Take Care!

Hi guys . . . thanks for asking about us! We're doing pretty well. Our baby is due May 21st and we're busy getting ready for that. I'm feeling pretty good (other than the usual aches and pains with third trimester!!) and the doctor says the baby looks healthy so we're really blessed these days. Our two kids are really excited about having a baby sister.
VL is doing great. He's still on Suboxone and will probably be forever. He may not even try tapering down to a lower dose because he's doing so well at 24 mg/day, so he, his addictionologist and sponsor all agree to let him stay on it permanently because he says he finally feels "normal." I really and truly think he has what's called "chronic relapsing" disease because he has tried and tried to get clean and did stay clean for 14 months at one point, but always had cravings and went back to using and the madness that goes along with it. Suboxone has been a God-send for us and has given us back our lives. Not sure I'd have my husband today without it and the 12 steps.
I don't really post a lot anymore, just lurk every now and then. But hope you all are doing well with your own battles with this disease. The disease has put our family through a lot, but can look back now and know that I've learned a lot and think I'm a better wife and mother today for it. I hope all who are in active using can find the same kind of peace . . . there's always hope!

Hope,
So good to hear from you! Glad everything is continuing to go well with your husband. And you, good luck with your upcoming birth. I know you are ready! I remember how it feels to be 8 months pregnant! :) Congratulations and I hope the birth and the baby are great.
I am still on a low dose of the sub as well, but will be attempting a taper in a month or so. We'll see how that goes.
Again, good to hear from you as I have though about you guys often. Take care and God bless,
Michelle

I've been dreaming about being pregnant lately--what a magical mystical time. I LOVED it, feeling that baby inside me... For a couple of months after she was born, every time she'd move I'd recall what it felt like when she was moving in my belly. Every moment of child bearing and raising seems precious--you don't want it to end but you look forward to what is to come. Wishing you both all the blessings life has to offer, Jeffie

Michelle . . . thanks for the kind words. You have three kids too, right? Good luck on the Suboxone taper. I know it's very difficult to do and I hope you don't get discouraged. VL tried tapering a few months back and got down to 18mg/day and started craving again so his doctor bumped him back up to 24mg/day and that's where he will stay for good (we think). We're fortunate in that it only costs us $30/month with our insurance. I think Suboxone will soon become (if it hasn't already) the standard treatment for those with opiate addiction who have tried several forms of treatment, etc. and continue to relapse.
Thanks so much Jeffie!! I know what you mean about feeling movement inside of you. She's kicking around as I type this!!! It truly is a miracle. Being a mother is what I was put on this earth for and I thank God every day for my kids and this precious one we have on the way. Oh, and for my husband too!!
Sounds like you're doing great Jeffie and I'm glad. I've got to run . . . going to see our Cards play tonight.
AOM . . . hope you're doing well too!

Hey, again, Hope,
Yes, I have a 5, 4, and 1 year old and my husband would probably like another in a year or so. But, I have to get my addiction under control and make very sure that I am stable- would never want to risk harming my unborn child. I was addicted by the time I became pregnant with my third, but my tolerance was still very low and I got by on what my OB gave me (Darvocet) for "headaches." My addiction did not really spiral out of control until after my third was born- I am one of those "supermom" addicts!
Please keep me posted when the baby arrives! Would love to hear from you and VL occassionally. Take care,
Michelle
