I fell almost 2 weeks ago and bruised (contusion) my tail bone. (Very painful) The 1st week I was taking Vicodin ES 7.5 and had no problems. I got a refill this week and they gave me the generic Hydrocodone APAP 7.5 and I have been sick to my stomach (I have tried taking it with food hoping to avoid an upset stomach) and I am kinda itchy on my back. Also I have been taking Norflex (muscle relaxer) which I have been on 2x's a day for almost the last 2 weeks. Is it cause the generic has something different in it or it just reacts differently with the Norflex. Anybody have had this kinda of problem or have any suggestions on what I should do. Thanks a bunch!

They are the same drug but they may use different fillers. My pain mangement doctor told me this when I complained of the same problems your having. I hope this helps you.

Lisa:
I believe that Vicodin ES is a slow release version and the generic you received is not. I suggest that you give you Pharmasist a call and ask if this may be your problem. Good luck.

Sorry, but there are no slow release versions of hydro in this country(USA),at least not yet,i do believe that they do have one in canada though. The ES just stands for extra strentgh and its contents are released just the same as any other short acting med.I am thinking as the 2nd poster regarding the fillers.Marcia
