I think my friend is sick and it might be serious but he refuses to see a doctor (partially because his family doesn't have the money). His symptoms are usually brought on by extreme stress and anxiety but i dont think this is the primary cause.
During each episode he has some or all of the following symptoms:
- coughing up blood
- dizziness
- hyperventilation
- spasms of neck and head
- fatigue
- malaise (feeling of unease)

Since he won't and can't see a doctor i've been trying to find out what is wrong with him and if it is really serious or merely a result of stress. These episodes have been occurring off and on now for about 2 years. Could this lead to serious complications? Does anyone know what might be wrong? If anyone could offer any suggestions i'd greatly appreciate it.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend, and you're a great friend to try to help.
The dizziness, hyperventilation, fatigue and malaise are all anxiety symptoms, that is assuming there's no other underlying problem.

The coughing up blood is a concern though, and he really needs to get this treated. I've been researching and reading up on anxiety for a few years now and have never heard this to be related, so to me, it's a physical problem that he needs to get checked.

Sounds like there's a problem in his stomach - maybe the lining, or an ulcer, but i'm certainly no expert. All I know is that when my brother coughed up blood he went straight to the doctors - i think his stomach lining was ruptured from drinking or something.

Good luck convincing him, perhaps you could go to for support.

Love
Jordie
