I am trying to get ARDS(adult/acute resptiory distress syndrome) better known and trying to learn more about it at the same time-does anyone here know what it is or want to learn more about it? It affects 150,000 people in the US every year and about 50-80% of them die-it kills more people yearly than AID-is it not something that should be known.?
God Bless.

I really don't know what that is. I'm assuming it's a kind of asthma brought on by stress. My husband suffers from asthma and attacks are brought on by the usual things, chest infections. cat hair, smoky atmospheres but I have noticed that his breathing becomes worse if he is stressed out, he dosn't have attacks or anything but his breathing is definately more laboured

It's not caused by asthma. ARDS is caused by many different things though-a blow to the chest, pneoumina, shock of any kind, sepis, suregery, and the list goes on. It affects the lungs-it puts holes into the lungs basically. If you want to learn more about it go to ARDS.org
God Bless
Please go check it out.

But some of the post ARDS things are kinda like astma systems though-especailly the breathing and things like that-all of you with asthma do you also have problems with chest pains? Do you have any suggestions to make them stop hurting?
God Bless.

I was told by a great pulmonologist that true asthmatics do have real trouble breathing when they get stressed out. If you have bad problems with asthma its important to try to lead a stress free life.

Thanks Rosa-I never heard that but I will keep it in mind-I do know one day I hurt myself at work and I had a hard time breathing and I guess it was probaly caused by stress now that I think of it.
God Bless.
