I thought it would be interesting to see (maybe depressing as well) what other conditions/diseases everyone has including asthma. Seems like a lot of these things are linked. I have:
asthma
allergies/sinus problems
high blood pressure
high choleserol
mitral valve prolapse (heart murmur)
hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)
Gerd (possibly)
occasional back problems
arthritis in toe joint, leaving me in constant pain
and Hypochondria, just kidding. My husband says I am, because he can't keep track of all of my conditions and medications!

*Allergy/Sinus problems/ETD
*Atopic dermatitis/hives/psoriasis/skin problems
*Anemia
*Right ankle anterior impingement(scar tissue in the joint)
*Torn ligament in left foot(what I thought was a broken toe...until it never healed!)
*Patella femoral syndrome(both knees)
*Scoliosis(minor)
*PVC's
*Heart murmur
Well that's all for besides having cough variant asthma!lol

Just extremely mild allergies, the common ones - dust mites and pollens (to what I don't know) I take Telefast (itchy skin as a result of allergies) and Claranase for the stuffy nose. Also Nasonex. Oh, possibly bees (long story) but hasn't been confirmed so to speak. Apparently showed a mild reaction to some type of nut.
Have had probs w/Iron deficiency and gerd - though I never list my allergy/Fe def./gerd as medical probs. ;)

I may be going out on a limb here..but do you think that bulimia can be why your asthma has been so hard to control?
It's like self induced GERD.
Maybe when you got the bulimia under control, your asthma will get better?
I don't know I just thought of that when I saw your post..

That's what I thought also.
I'm afraid to say much because I know that EDs are easily triggered, but microaspirations of stomach acid can cause an asthma attack. It's like inhaling lemon juice.

I know, I know... :(
But, I'm getting over it!! Really, it's true. I used to be really bad (like 7 times a day bad). Now I'm down to once every couple of days.
Anyways, my asthma probably does get worse with the bulimia, btu it is still bad without it. I AM trying though. Thanks for your advice!

Asthma
Migranes(under control great medication ...it only took 15 years to find some that works )
IBS
Bleeding (occasionally)Ulcer
Hmmm looks like i'm stressed from the above problems but really i'm pretty much stress free (and live very happily ).........except for my rotten lungs !!
Hi
Thought I'd join in the fun.
I have, in addition to the asthma:
#migraines (I saw someone had a good medication... what is it, i've been taken of the old one I was on cos it was causing atrial valve fibrilation)
#Depression- cos of the prednisilone
#scoliosis (only a little one though)
#Allergic rhinitis
#Dodgy blood sugars - again they think it is due to the pred
#Heart murmer
#Endometriosis
#polycystic ovaries
#GERD
Oh..... I sound like a right hypochondriac! Hmmm... maybe that it is all that is wrong with me after all!
I'm waiting for test results for diabetes and for a bone scan to see if I have bone problems from the pred and sleep study for sleep apnoea
Thats quite enough for me I think!
I was also thinking that, maybe they aren't all linked at all, it's just that as asthmatics they listen to our chests so much that they pick up things like heart murmers which would ordinarily go undetected, and GERD which doesn't cause that many probs for non asthmatics.

well, I guess we are lucky. My daughter only has allergies and asthma. I would have added chronic bronchitis but I think that was only because she wasn't being treated properly. I am confident with her new doc that will be under control. I am a little concerned she is developing migraines. My son has them and she has gone to bed with a headache several times in the last few months.......crying and screaming but has NOT vomited with them yet.........

Blue Banana - yes, my pulminologist was actually the first one who noticed my heart murmur!
I've noticed several people saying they get migraines. I take motrin probably 10 days per month because I have really bad headaches. I've never actually gone to the dr, but I think I do get mild migraines, because I get light sensitive and feel sick to my stomach. I wonder if headaches are also related to asthma. Either from the meds, or from the sinus congestion.

I guess I will join in also.
My 6 yo son has
asthma
IgG subclass deficiency
migraines
adhd
mild pdd
macrocephaly
highly gifted(which could be bothersome..lol..cant spell things out we dont want him to know)
I guess thats it for him.
My 12 yo daughter has
asthma
neurocardiogenic syncope
thyroiditis (resolving, i think)

Voltarin rapid!!Works great on me and no side effects (it's a persription but its cheap too ) ,Itake it when I feel one coming on , then uasually 20 min later poof ....no more migraine. It's usually used for high blood pressure (which i don't have ) but does the trick on certain types of migraines (like mine :) ).

Im only 15, so i guess i should have a small list, i have:
-Asthma (Still ont 100% sure)
-Scoliosis (gonna get re-checked soon)
And thats it, I guess in return for dealing with these i have a good immune system, im in 10th grade, and haven't been sick (at all, like: cough, flu, stay home, headaches) since around 3rd grade.

High chrisab508. Good to hear u haven't had a cold in ages. Are u on medication for ur asthma or is it only very mild. What meds are u on?

Well, i used to live in France and i never really went to the doctor, and my asthma was really starting to get good. I mean i hadn't needed to use an inhaler for like 6 months (even for exercise) and then i moved to chicago and it got worse but i still wouldn't consider it to be severe. Im going to a doctor soon, im currently (and never have been) on prev meds, i use an inhaler and will maybe start some prev meds (although doubt it) when i go see the specialist. Im also gonna get my scoliosis checked.
Oh forgot one other condition,
i have:
-Acne. (but then again i am in the middle of puberty)

What meds are u on now? If u are on any steroids it would be interesting to hear if u start developing infections that u never had before. U are a perfect test control (sorry!), to see how steroids affect immunity because even though u are asthmatic, u never had any infections before.

Along with asthma, I have (on and off)
arthritis
tendonitis
gastritis (GERD)
blepharitis
colitis (occasional)
sinusitis
borderline hypoglycemia/diabetes
eczema (occasional)
dislocation of C4-5
torn shoulder tendon
seasonal allergies
Most of above, including asthma and pre-diabetes are auto-immune, inflammatory conditions. What's interesting is the frequency of arthritis and dislocations/back problems along with asthma among all of us. Could one inflammatory condition be triggering others? Haven't found a doc yet willing to call it a syndrome. Cloie :)

Actually, there is a name for arthritis if you have eczema..it's called psoriatic arthritis & it is directly related to your eczema & the outbreaks! I have severe skin allergies & would you believe that at age 13 I was diagnosed with arthritis! Yep, it's from the skin allergies. I'm like you, all inflammatory conditions..and I had it suggested that I had Hyper IgE syndome, which can cause a lot of inflammatory symptoms/back problems/chronic infections..so i'm gonna ask the allergist tomorrow to test me for that..but every single problem I have is seemingly related to another..or could be..so I will let you all know what he says about these conditions & how they are all related!

I have a host of inflammatory conditions, too. I think they are all related. I wish I had the determination to go on an anti-inflammatory diet to see if it helped. There are natural ways to rid ourselves of inflammation, also. Go to the alternative medicine board and punch in "natural anti-inflammatories" and see what shows up. By anti-inflammatory diet, I mean tons of veggies, a lot of them raw, and tart fruits, less meat and NO SUGAR. I listen to a naturopathic doctor on tv and he connects inflammation to even CANCER, Just recently medical doctors have connected inflammation and heart disease, so it is a real problem. I have heard of people with arthritis get on medication for their inflamed joints and their asthma CLEAR UP! Now that is interesting.

This is interesting. I have:
asthma
sinus problems
low blood sugar
allergies (year-round)
yeast infections (fun!)
eczema
can't tolerate antibiotics, birth control pills very well (am allergic to pencillin and who knows what else)
anxiety
I think the anxiety (other than the breathing problems) bothers me the most. Because now I have trouble doing things that I used to love to do. Like flying on a plane. Or being anywhere that's too claustrophobic. Hate to feel that I can't breathe and am scared to have an attack (even if it's unlikely and I have all my meds on me) in mid-air! Or anywhere else where I feel stuffy or closed in. I used to travel all the time, but I had to get off a plane 2X in the last year because I started to panic. And I wasn't even having an attack. So depressing. Anyone else experience this?
