Have any of you had or considered sinus surgery for ear problems? After years of not being able to breathe (which I lived with) I had a horrible year of dizziness, inner ear pressure, ringing etc. I have TMJ, had mastioditis and now my cscans show very congested sinuses that back up some junk into my et tubes. Three opinions say having this surgery could help the problem. Im all for it. and I got all the blood work up stuff today, that stuff is worse than the surgery, but Im still for it. Anyone think this is a bad idea?

No i dont think it is at all! i have had plugged ears for nearly a month now and cant take sudafed! and if this goes on much longer i am going to beg to be seen by a specialist! i have had a year of stomach problems and this is just the iceing on the cake!!

So if someone offered me surgery to get rid of this problem i would go for it!! there's no point in suffering so do it and get better :)

I'll let you know soon enough. I've had ear, eustachian tube problems for about 12 years now. Eardrum tubes have helped some but a far cry from preventing the problems. All the doctors I've been to finally gave up but one and suggested sinus surgery. As he said, what have you got to lose? I had the surgery a little over a week ago. I suspect it's going to take a few weeks to get all the swelling in the sinus to go down and a little time to see if it's going to help my problems.
The ENT surgeon thinks I may have chronic sinus infections caused by poor drainage, and the infected drainage infects the eustachian tube causing the ear problems and vertigo.

Hi - can I ask have you had inner ear testing? I am interested that they think your vertigo/dizziness may be caused by eustacian tube problems. What are your exact symptoms? Do your sinuses feel v full? I know you have TMJ which can also be a factor in the dizziness. Do you have dizziness 24/7?

I have dizziness pretty much in spells everyday, it comes stronger and less at certain times with no rhyme or reason really. I had my inner ears tested, or I had an MRI done, with hearing tests. I do or did have mastioditis and took a whole lot o' antibotics at one point for it. I had the cscan of my sinuses and got the 2nd opinion too.

What symptoms were you having? How was a eustachian tube problem diagnosed?

Thanks.

Mary
