Check out my post below about the Heart Math Solution. If that doesn't appeal to you many colleges and universities have free or cheap counseling available to the public and hospitals like Kaiser have classes on depression/stress/anxiety offered to the public for a little over 100 - 200 bucks. Usually it's a 6 or 8 week series that meets weekly. They also might have free support groups as well. It's well worth it to check those out compared to one on one thrapy session costs. Certainly better than coming onto a message board to look for support. Nothing like real people in similar situations to relate with!

Hi Yoopergrl-
A really good quick and easy book that is rooted in cbt is Been there, done that? do this! by Sam Obitz. The empowering tools of change in it teach you how to lower your stress through some simple exercises. The Artists way by Julia Cameron also has some good journaling suggestions that are helpful.

Hi Yooper-
My favorite introductory book on CBT (which is a great stress reducer) is Been There, Done That? Do This! by Sam Obitz and if you like what you see there... Feeling Good by David Burns goes into more depth on the same CBT exercises. Take care
