It's been 7.5 weeks since my double bunionectomy, and I feel that things are going very well.
Just in the last few days, I finally can walk *almost* normally. My toes are gaining their flexibility back, which allows me to walk normally, and not flat footed. I can walk up and down the stairs now, although going down is a little tougher.
I did some hiking this past week. Not a whole lot, but I did some. It was more of a nature-trail type walk, but still it felt good to do that. It was hilly, which actually felt great b/c it stretched my toes in a good kind of way. I did play tennis last Sunday, although I did not really move my feet that much. That teaches my husband to be VERY accurate with his ball placement! :D
I can now sit and stand with my feet down without them swelling up (as long as it's not for too long). I no longer use the wheelchair at all and can even walk the aisles of the grocery store without much problems....slowly, but I can do it.
The scabs are totally off (have been for a while). I am still in extra wide mens shoes. I've read posts from others wearing high heals and there's no way that I can do that! It hurts just thinking about it!!!
Now, as long as these bunions don't reform, I will be very glad that I got the surgery done.
