I Have had every test possiable for my stomach and reflux problems. They all keep comming back normal. I am so sick of feeling sick. I have good days where i feel pretty good then i have days where i feel so sick to my stomach that i dont want to get out of bed. I know this cant be all in my head and i have done all the diet changes. Nothing seems to work. The meds for reflux only work for so long and then quite. I missed my boyfriends 30th birthday because of this crap. I dont understand why everything is showing up fine. I mean dont get me wrong im glad i dont have something horrably wrong with me but its been a year and a half that i have felt this way and im damn right tired of it. I want to be a normal person again. What should i do now?

I am the same way. I've had every test in the book and there's nothing wrong with me! But I still keep feeling sick. I now don't even have as many good days. They are few and far between. What meds are you on now? I am on carafate and xanax and just quit taking prevacid after 3 years because I'm trying to figure out if having no acid in my stomach is hampering the digestion and emptying of my stomach to the point where I feel bloated and sick. I have yet another upper scope scheduled in March.

I am actually not taking and rx, i take a whole slew of herbal extracts and herbal pills. I have been on those for about 6 months and have given me the ability to function. I also quit taking prevacid for that same reason. SOmetimes i wonder if the next step is to go see a shrink. SInce every other doc ihave been to thinks im nuts. lol. I too have another appointment with my gi in march to see is theres some other horrid test he can put me though. I hope all goes well with your scope. Let me know how it goes. I hope you get better soon.

You are about the fifth person on these boards who has had that problem with prevacid besides me. Also, I have been to shrinks and they push the antidepressants. Even if they can't prescribe them they seem to think people can't live without them. I have even taken the psychological test up at Mayo Clinic. It's like 500 questions and they are strange questions. The results were that I am clinically depressed, but not crazy. LOL. I just said that anyone who has been feeling sick enough and having all these tests done and finding nothing physically wrong and being told (not in so many words) that it's all in your head would probably be depressed. I know what you mean when you say you just want to be normal person again. Whatever that is, right? I think I forgot what normal feels like since I feel sick most of the time I'm too aware of how my stomach feels. I too have missed out on a lot of things with my family. My kids especially. Or I have made myself not miss out on some things and had a miserable time and been nervous the whole time. It's crazy!!
I hope you feel better too. Let me know if you come up with some miracle cure! Ha! Ha!

Thats the only reason i dont want to go see a shrink, I dont want to be put on antidepressents. Like you said who would be depressed if they felt yucky day in and day out. Im only 22 and i have been haveing the worst time trying to finish up in school. I have failed at least on class a semester and am so far behind im noever going to be done. I dont remember what it feels like to be nornal either. Im so use to being in pain. I have also missed out on alot of things. My boyfriend just quit making plans to go out anymore cuz i usually backed out last minute or was just misserable.I am very thankfull that he puts up with me though, he is very understanding when it comes to my issues. I will let you know what i figure out. I just wish there was a little pill that we could take to make it all go away, but that would be way to simple lol. take care.

Hi everyone. I have a question for everyone in this "thread". Have any you guys/gals been in a diet, At any time, before your symptoms began?

I have not been on a diet. I cannot afford to diet. I only weigh 95 lbs and I'm 5'7". Way underweight. There are times when I can't eat right though. I never skip a meal though. I always make sure I eat something even if it's just toast or cereal. Why do you want to know about a diet?

I have the exact same problem that you guys seem to have. I have GERD and a Hiatal hernia shown from a scope i had done about three years ago. The doc said to just keep taking my Protonix and i should feel fine, but i don't. I have been on this rollercoaster for over 3 years now and i just want to feel normal again if there is such a thing!
I am going to the doc this month to have some more tests done so i can find out if maybe i just have dyspepsia which is where you feel nauseous, bloated, full after eating a little, burping, and no signs of any serious condition. I know i have ibs which can cause alot of distress on your system.
My protonix has been working fine for indigestion if that is what you have so maybe you guys just need to try a different ppi and see what one works for you. I have been on Protonix on and off for 3 years now but it doesn't help the dyspepsia.
Hopefully i'll be able to go places now cause i am 21 and i can't even go anywhere, i just sit at home. It really sucks. I have never been so depressed in my whole life.

Im not on a diet either. I also never skip a meal. The worst that can happens if i feel sick so i eat anyways. I also stay at home most of the time. It gets very old. I at least make it to school everyday for the most part. thats my main concern. It sux being so young and having issues that no docor can fingure out. I always thought when you got into you 60s is when things start to go wrong.

I was what you would call healthy, till the day that I started a diet. It was a simple diet. Eating 6x a day. 3 main course but in smaller portians than before ans snacks in between meals. Insteasd of eating fruits I would drink shake. I whent to a GMC and got a meal replacedment shake. After 3 month I had lost 15 pounds.(by the way I was also working out). I stop drinking the shakes, and thats when everything started going down the drain. The was in Aug of last year. I'm still sufering for the thoughtless act that I did. I ended up losing 40 pound in 4 month. I have digestive problem that are difficult to put into words.
My other reason for asking this, is because: I heard the we all need certains bacteria /parasite in our stomach, and since the doctors never found out what I had. I am almost convinced that those same parasites/ bacterias that our stomach need where at faltof my illness, since i limited to amount of food in my stomach. It is hard for me to type what I'm trying to say. But I hope you kind of get an idea where I'm going with this. But it might be way off in your cisuation.

Have been checked for h. pylori many times in the past when I felt like this and it was negative. I am having another scope in a week and a half and will be checked again. So soon to find out.

Wow, I am really sorry to hear about you troubles. I've heard of the good bacteria too. I haven't been on a diet. I started suffering on news years day. I thought it was just because I drank too much and smoked to many cigarettes the night before. but it wasn't I'm still having major issues. What does the doctor say about you symptoms? Have you had any testing done? What are you feeling like? I don't mean to ask so many questions. We may have too many symptoms in common and can help each other figure out what helps them or makes them worse. I hope you feel better soon. TC

Have you searched for info on Celiac disease? It sure sounds to me as though you have a basic food intolerance (not an allergy, per se, so wouldn't show up on allergy tests) of which Celiac is the most severe result...Google it. See what you think.

When you say you feel sick to your stomach, do you mean your nauseous? Because that doesn't seem to go with acid reflux, from what I've been reading.

If your insurance covers it, why not go ahead and see a shrink? Maybe you are more anxious than you realize. Anxiety is a really common cause of nausea. And heartburn and other digestive problems, for that matter. It's worth checking.

No i havent thought of celiac disease. Sometimes certain food upsets my stomach then a week later it wont. Thats why i havent thought of looking anything of that up. I have been tested for H pylori and i dont have that either. My stomachaches dont always make me feel nauseaus. Only sometimes. I dont think i have an anxiety problem because i can go to school and work and things like that and not have any issues. I just cant eat anything if i go out or while im out. I shouldnt say i cant there times i am fine after i eat. Im just so sick of feeling icky and would really like to find out the problem and fix it. thanks for all your help. take care

I have pretty much pass through several different phase. In the begining, It was fatigue, nauseus, cramps in my stomanch and shoulders, I was discolor, lost of appetite, dizzy, I started to get minor anxiety attack. I went to 5 different doctors, but no one found anything wrong with me. They did find it odd that I lost so much weight so quick. The doctors told me that I had every thing from spider poisinig to depression, stomach virus to samonela. I never beleived them. I went to see a nutrisionist/ herb specialist. She gave me some herb to take. It was a slow process but I do fell much better than when I was going to the doctors. But unfortunately what ever I had (still haven't found out what I have) I beleived it did some damage to my intentise. I going to get that check out next week. I have place other site during the begining of my ordeal. Search for them to give you a better idea of what I was going through. This thing also cause other problem.

Gtpchic31. Have you tried a calcium/Magnesium supplement? I have about your symtoms. I have Gerds,Barrients Isophagus, sore stomach etc. I have taken three PPI's Acephex worked for 2 months then quit. Prolosec worked only half way. Nexium works but killed my appetite the first time
but later had no side effects. These have been taken over 3 years along with Zantec which works but gives me a sore stomach. I have taken a cheap supplement from Walmart and It has made all my symtoms better
after 10 days on it. Don't know how long it will continue but it is only $2.50 for a 30 day supply and worth a try. Good luck

Have you read Breaking The Vicious Cycle about the carbohydrate specific diet. It is often good as a last resort. I'm on a similar diet and have seen some improvements. Go on Amazon and check out all the reviews.
