If you just stop taking effexor what will the effects be? And how long do you have to be taking it before you feel those effects when you stop taking it. I don't want to take it but I haven't been on it very long. So would i still have bad effects?

I had withdrawal side effects after being on it only 3 weeks.

Side effects can not be predicted. Neither can withdrawal problems.

It is not recommended to stop taking any anti-depressant cold turkey. Can't you just call your doc and tell him/her that you want to stop taking it? I'm sure he/she will explain how to wean yourself off slowly so you don't have to experience the horrible effects. Also, stopping cold turkey can cause a severe rebound effect with depression which you don't need! Best of luck.

Hey Damaged,
I actually read about this. i cant remember exactly what it said, although I can remember that it said that withdrawing fast from it can cause worser side-effects when u go 'cold turkey'. So, I think u can get worser dizzy spells etc...have a search for it on the net..it gives info about these things.

I am on effexor and have a bad habit of missing doses, sometimes for days at a time. I am always reminded to take it when I have the unmistakable withdraw symptoms (mine, anyway) which consist mainly of a very annoying dizzy-type feeling (very hard to describe because it isn't normal dizziness, more like your head is floating and not really attached or something) and really messed up dreams. I am sure withdraw varies from person to person and there are probably some that I have and am not aware of, but these are the two most noticeable symptoms for me (and others I have talked to).
