I think if you read through the other threads you will find situations that are similar to yours. Like many have said before, HIV is a fragile virus and is not transmitted as easily as we think. I had my blood tested two weeks ago and have still not gotten my results back, I'm kind of afraid to call them because they said they would call me. My doctor told me there are 3 ways for HIV to be transferred, and here they are in order of likelihood:

1) from transfers of blood - makes sense right, HIV needs blood to live in so this is the easiest way for it to be transferred.

2) sharing drug needles - again, makes sense because you are taking the virus directly from someones blood stream and putting it into yours.

3) sexual intercourse - everybody is familiar with this method and people seem to think that its the most common because HIV is commonly refered to as an STD, which it is, but this is not the easiest way to transfer the disease.
Read other posts and they will explain to you that women get it easier than men because of the natural of fluid transfer etc.

I know that you come to this site for support and I understand your situation because I was just there not more than a few days ago. You have to have some level of rational thinking, you had protected sex with someone so your chances of contracting HIV just went down considerably, not to mention some statistic about the chances of getting HIV from a person who has the disease when unprotected sex is involved. It definitely happens to people, but I bet if you picked a random group of people off the street they would all tell you that HIV can only be transmitted through sexual intercourse, showing how much the general person knows about HIV. I have taken more than one course in pathology and have experience working in biology, so I have a bit more knowledge than most people would. Anyways, it is completely ridiculous to jump to conclusions with such mild symptoms, although we are only human and some are stronger than others. Unless you had unprotected sex before with another person, I'm willing to bet that you are fine, but the only way to know is to get tested after 3 to 6 months which is the time it takes for the body to make suitable amounts of the HIV anitbody, provided that you have it. Sorry I don't have much compassion at this point, but its because I think you have nothing to worry about.
