HELLO
as we all know here in canada it takes MONTHS IN order to JUSt see a shrink BUT just curiosu after we have waited the months and we FINALLY get to see one do we have to wait few more months after we get to see them again? IN THIS case whats the point in seeing them ? as in how can they actually help if each other their appointments are 2 months apart ? IT just sounds so pointless if thats the case! any advice would be great.

hi there, I know it takes a long time to get an app. Once you have your first app, they will probably set up a schedule based on what treatment you will need. You will probably see him/her once a week, maybe more if necessary, maybe less. The hard part is waiting for the first appointment. Good luck.

Hi,
abbygirl's posting gives the process I went through as well. Months for the initial appointment/interview/assessment, about 2 weeks before I had the first appointment with the psychologist.
If your appointments are covered under provincial medical you may have to wait. It may seem pointless to wait, but if you're in the process don't back out now.
What's happened in your situation?

Hi,
You've done all the tests and assessment...so you have an appointment on the 11th. That's great. No, you wouldn't have appointments months apart at all...it would be as abbygirl said...once a week or more if needed.
My point was that if you are going through provincial medical that covers appointments with psychiatrists and some psychologists..there is a waiting list. Those who pay, usually have less waiting since there are more psychologists who are private.
I think I'm missing the point of your statement. Has this already happened to someone else you know who has had to wait for appointments one every month? Doesn't seem right, but there may have been unforseen circumstances, holidays, illness...etc that may have warranted the appointments to be set up that way. If that was the case...is it still set up that way?
Are you going to see a psychologist or psychiatriast?

Hello
I just went to the anxeity clinic they ran another crap load of questions and told me my test results now they are sending ALL THE INFORMATION to my doctors SO IM NOT EVEN GETTING ANY COUNCELLING OR HELP YET THEY Were just running more stupid tests and questions all took a total of 4 months what a waste! they know every little bit of my problems now and diagnosed me with anxeity/ocd/depression. THEY SAID my doctor will be able to hook me up with a good therapist 4 help & that its VERY hard to find cause no one is taking new patients! anyways what a total let down!! JUST had a question do we have to pay for therapy here in canada? IS There any kind of free therapy here????

Depending on where you live, I can only speak for Ontario, therapy is free.
Sorry to hear about your bad day. I can't believe Dr's get pain to waste our time, as if WE have nothing better to do. Hopefully you won't have to wait ANOTHER 4 months.
