Hey guys! i am training to be an EMT-B as of right now...i am doing my rotations on the ambulance and the hospital. was just curious what options there are for me when i become liscenced in 2 months? i am gonna start my paramedic class in the fall...but i would really like to have a job in the summer to help with money and all? How much do they generally make? I want to work my way up to being a doctor and i would like to work as a paramedic throughout my schooling. anybody have any thoughts or advice? thanks a bunch! - In His Glory- Meagen

Hello!!!!!!!!!!I have been an emt for almost 2 years now.I was devastated when i found out how little they get paid.Your best bet would try to get into a hospital working in the ER.Working on squad your looking at 6.50 starting out.Which is nothing compared to the fact we are out there saving peoples lives.I myself work on a squad because i love the work but better pay sure would be nice.Hope i have been helpful!

I did my EMT training while in college, I did it over the summer in an accelerated program. I really don't have much advice on jobs since where I live it's almost impossible to get a job as with just an EMT-B. You might want to look at jobs within the ER or other parts of the hospital.

I would try to volunteer for some time to get 911 experience. Then you may get hired by EMS in your area. Those jobs are usually fulltime though, so I don't know about doing it through school.

They don't get paid very well at all....check outwww.911jobs.net (http://www.911jobs.net/) most don't even list how much they get paid. But Paramedics get paid quite a bit more!
