Hello Gang, I have a question about Ovulation and getting your period.. Is it possible to have your period, if you don't Ovulate..? Or do you have to ovulate, in order to get a period..? The reason I ask, is I'm just now getting my first natural period after being off the pill for a year and I wanted to know if that's a sign that I ovulated, or just because I got my period on my own, doesn't necessarily mean I ovulated..? Please any replies will be appreciated, cause I'm anxious to know if gettin my period means that's a good sign I'm finally ovulating again.. :-)

Hi - People can get their period an not ovulate. It is called anovulation. I know because this happened to me. I was getting my period (irregular) and I wasn't ovulating. My gyno did some test to determine this. Then she sent me to a fertility specialist.
You can also buy an ovulator predictor kit that might help.

You must have a period to ovulate but you dont have to ovulate to have a period.

I ditto what the other girls are saying. It's crazy what happens in our bodies -- and we have no clue.
I found out after TTC for over a year that although I was getting regular periods AND ovulating, I wasn't ovulating WELL. In other words, I was releasing eggs, but their quality stunk and they just weren't viable. (Hence I'm taking drugs like Clomid and Follistim.)
So I guess you just never know. That's why fertility testing can be so helpful. But of course...you have to try for that one long year before doctors will look at you.
Baby dust to you!
