View Full Version : Itchy Red Spots

Three days ago, I noticed small red bumps, that resemble insect bites on the back of my upper legs. They itch and have now spread to my abdomen region, sides and I have a few on my shoulder. I visited my regular doctor (GP) and he said this is some sort of allergy, prescribed clarinex and sent me home. This is similar to the appearance of heat rash, which I have had in the past. However, it is not even spring yet and I have not been in the sun. I have not switched detergents, eating anything out of the ordinary and I feel fine, other than the itching that seems to come and go. Does anyone have any idea what this may be from? Most of the bumps are in patches, but then there are others that are sprinkled randomly, mostly on my stomach. The spots are very small and look like they may be filled with clear fluid. They are about the size of a poppy seed. I posted under HIV because I typed the above topic in a search engine and HIV was in some of the results. Now I'm scared. I have never used IV drugs and I've only had unprotected sex with 3 people, all boyfriends at the time. And that was over 4 years ago. Please help!

I'm sorry I don't have much info on this, but the best thing you can do is get tested for this as soon as possible. It will settle your mind

Do you have children? Been in a swimming pool in the last 6-8months? Look up "mulluscum" and see if your rash looks like that.
It could be an allergy, rash, dry skin, heat bumps (it doesn't have to be hot out for heat bumps), etc... It could be anything. Try some cortisone cream or neosporin on it and see what happens.
I wouldn't worry too much about HIV. If you're really that concerned maybe you should test to ease your mind.
