 Has any of you Fibromyalgia sufferers gone to a chiropracter and get have your body adjusted??? What were the effects of it, did it help with the pain and/or stiffness?? Or did it cause more pain??? I know that everyone will have a different reaction to procedures. My mom was thinking of me getting it done after getting approval from my Rheumatologist and she was curious of what othes have to say and if the effects were good or bad. Thanks for any replies!!!! :)

i just recently tried out chiropractic again. i had an absolutely incredible chiropractor about 15 years ago, before i was dx'ed with fibro, but after dx of epstein-barr. she helped a lot with pain from a back injury (soft tissue).
i have been to good chiros and bad chiros. i haven't had any horrific results, just the bad ones didn't help much.
my current chiro helped A LOT at first, but we've hit a brick wall. i've been sick, so i haven't seen him for about a week. i'm hoping he can do something for the stiffness/pain in my upper back, but it's not responding well.
to make a long story short, a good chiro can help a lot. just make sure they are using very gentle methods, and get one that you trust. some of them just "force bones into place" (my current chiro's words). i find that is incredibly unhelpful.
good luck to you!

Oh, hmmm, i had an extremely bad experience with a chiro. Spent over 800 bucks cause she kept saying it will take at least 12 sessions for me to feel a difference ( cause i was so messed up she said). I would say i dont feel better, i feel worse, but she kept saying its cause of the adjustments and your bones and joints are being "taught" to be in the proper alignment after being out of it for so long.
Sorry, after about like 9 sessions, i knew it wasnt for me. Call me a slow learner lol but when youve been in severe pain, youll try anything.
I now go to a massage therapist. She knows exactly where my trigger points are at and massages them and ohhhh it hurts but the "good" kind of hurt.
It might take maybe 2 or 3 sessions with her and i can honestly say the pain lessens tremendously. I LOVE HER!!! It is a soothing, relaxing, pain relieving treatment. Her hubby is a chiro and she says he treats people with fibro, and has asked if i wanted to see him. She knows how i feel about chiros, so she doesnt push it, but did ask me to give him a try and says i should notice a difference with him after 2 sessions. We'll see. For right now, im just sticking with the massages.
