Im new here first of all and Im 27 and have IBS and Gerd but are on no meds for either. Is this attack I had tonight part of these problems or maybe something different?

The sharp stomach and chest pains came out of no where and had me stop in my tracks from what I was doing to go lye down! It was like strong cramps that went up to my arm and my back started hurting! The attack lasted about an hour then I passed a bowel movement that was softer than I usually have and lots of gas, sorry! My god I thought it was a heart attack  . Im thinking its IBS and if you all agree Im off to get some meds SOON but not sure which is a good one? Ive taken bental before and it helped but there are so many new ones out there now. Also I have an anxiety disorder and know they play a role together. Also is IBS associated with a constant lightheaded feeling? HELP Im a mommy to 3 and cant slow down and need some info :) , Thank you! Christina

I too have IBS and gerd. I get pains all over in my torso. I usually attribute it to gas. I take phazyme for stomach gas. I'm also on prevacid, but am gradually trying to stop that because I've been on it for three years and it is starting to cause side effects. I have anxiety and when I have a bad bout of bowel trouble the anxiety is overwhelming sometimes and I do get lightheaded. I think I just get real nervous because I don't feel good and there's so much to do with the kids and no time to relax. I have two boys ages 6 and 8 so it's go, go, go all the time anymore. It's hard to do things when you're feeling yucky. But I do know that IBS pains can get really bad. Oh, and I always have lots of gas. If I have a day where I don't get rid of any look out the next day! Yuck, I know, but it goes that way.
