Good morning everyone. Well, it's day #18 and I'm doing OK. I did have a setback of the sort yesterday (day #17). I've heard it said before, but it was honestly like I was not wearing a patch at all yesterday. I was flat-out irritable and depressed. Strange. It was almost like it was day #1 or #2 all over again. The good news is that I did not give in or anything like that, but I did have some pretty bad withdrawals to deal with. Hopefully, that was just a one-time affair and that today will be back on track again.

Have others that have quit by using the patch ever experienced this before? I'm talking about going weeks at a time doing and feeling great and then wham! - you suddenly have one day that's seems like you're not even wearing a patch.

Thanks,

Dave

I've had bad days off and on, so yes, it's possible. The other possibility is that you put the patch somewhere where the nicotine wasn't being absorbed as well. Maybe? I forgot to put my patch on twice this week. Both times I got really tired, but that was it. I'm going to drop down to 7 mg next week and see how that goes.

Thanks for your input, guilty. I'm going to start bringing a spare patch with me to work to put on just in case this happens again. The patch's mfg. says to use a different site (place on your body) everytime you put on a fresh patch and to not use the same site twice in any week. This is due to a skin irritation issue - doesn't have anything to do with absorbtion.

I don't know - but like I said, I'll have a spare close at hand in case this happens again.

It was kind of funny yesterday - everytime I had a strong craving (which was pretty much all day long), I would feel through my shirt to see if the patch had come off or something. :)

Thanks again,

Dave

Dave--Sometimes I had wondered if I got a bad patch that somehow missed getting the shot of nicotene when it was manufactured. Who knows. You could try removing that one and try another?? Maybe it was just your body chemistry that day. Did you sleep well the night before? Eaten well that day? Stress issues? Sometimes we just have a bad day, and have to expect that when we quit smoking.

Deda,

I've also wondered the same thing about the possibilities of getting a "lemon-patch" every now and then. I will start taking off the patch in question and putting on a fresh one if this happens again.

I did not sleep very much the night before this happened and am sure that it did have something to do w/ this particular day.

Hope that you're doing well,

Dave

I always have a patch on my chest area. My arms don't seem to absorb right. I just move it around a little so it's not exactly in the same spot. I think mine just say to keep to upper body? I don't have one with me, so I don't know. I did use one once that released all it's nicotine at once and I ended up in emergency, but that was several years ago. I imagine if that can happen, then a bum patch can.

Dang guilty - do tell what happened. I'm sure it was an od but what did your body go thru?

I got really sick to my stomach and dizzy. I couldn't even walk up the stairs, I crawled. I took the patch off and my roommate took me in to emergency. By the time they got around to seeing me (about 3 hours!) I had actually started to feel better. But it still cost me 200 dollars!

Wow - you were lucky you pulled it off. Shame on the $200 but better to be safe than sorry right :)
