heliotrope

As a child in the 1960's, for attacks of bronchial asthma, I was given tiny, hideous-tasting white pills called Tedril. They made me VERY sick, and to-all-intents-and-purposes, knocked me out cold for 12 hours at a time. Has anyone else taken this medication? Does anyone know what it was, who its pharmaceutical company/creator was, or what its current-day equilalent would be? I can't find ANY information about it anywhere.
Thanks for any information.
