View Full Version : One sided Asthma?

Now here is something strange I have noticed.

It seems that when I begin to feel that "air hunger"
that when I go to force a breath in, I favor one side. I tend to stretch my left side as much as I can to get the air in. I do this involuntarily, but consistently.

Anyone have any idea what the heck that is all about?

Your right lung is bigger than your left lung. That could have something to do with it. Because they won't inflate equally. You might be stretching to make them inflate equally?

That makes sense.

Thanks!

The stretching to try to inflate a side will affect both lungs regardless, but I know it does feel like I don't ventilate my left lung as much either... that's why. Because you're not!

It is really annoying. And then my creative little mind begins to wander, and imagine that all my organs in my left side are taking up all th room and sqishing my poor un-inflated lil' lung.

I have something wrong with my stomach, and this doesn't help.

So then I think, uh-oh, my stomach is HUGE and it is taking over my ribcage.

Of course this is ridiculous and I amuse the crap out of myself, but.... all the same I was just wondering why I started doing this when I had never done it before.

Yer smart!

I find to sometimes close my mouth partway so I'm only breathing on the left side of my mouth seems to help.

I don't know why it works. Tricking my body?
