It seems that my lungs ache & wheez more overnight than any other time. Esp. if I have a cold or an allergic reaction to something.
Does anyone know of any medication that makes your lungs feel less tight at nighttime?
I don't take steroids. I use Albuterol--but it's mild.

I recently posted with the same concern, as, I was having difficulty sleeping.
I was recommended to sleep slightly inclined and to use
my albuterol right before bed.
I also crack my window.
It seems to help.
Hope you feel better!

A humidifier with a filter on it (so you aren't inhaling aerosolized mineral particles or moulds from the water) has helped a lot of people.
Also look into investing in a dust-remover, dust-mite-proof pillows and mattress covers, and good quality cotton sheets that can handle hot water washing without pilling (think 80 thread count. SPEND the extra money.) and wash them on a bi-weekly (or weekly) basis, if you have dust allergies.
VACUUM! Invest in a vacuum with a HEPA filter.

If you're just using Albuterol and you're having regular symptoms at night, I'd really encourage you to talk to your dr about possibly making some adjustments to your treatment plan. Also, acid reflux can trigger nighttime asthma symtoms. Some specialist told me that asthma is usually worse at night for everyone - something to do with our breathing patterns when we sleep. Hope you get some rest.

albuterol only works for 3-6 hours at best, so you might find yourself waking up. It can also hype you up more than other drugs and make it harder to sleep.
There are better bronchodilators for that now -- try using foradil, oxeze, or serevent before bed (ask your dr.) because they are all supposed to last 12 hours and will make you all the way through the night.
They work like a charm.
