Why do some people put weight on using the very least amount of a steroid?
Also, Singulair put weight on me. It's not a steroid. Now I notice Rhinocort does.
Am I so sensitive to that type medication that I react from any of the asthma medications?
It's hard to believe but it's true.
I don't the added burden of a weight gain. I'd been on prednisone at high doses and gained weight in the abdomen area. There's a big bulge under my breasts which is just fat. Yuk!

Prednisone and other inhaled steroids (rhinocort falls into that category) are known to cause weight gain in those who are more susceptible. It makes your blood sugar rise.

Contrarily, beta-2 agonists like most bronchodilators are known to cause weight loss if taken in high doses.

Weight gain is not listed as one of the side-effects of singulair -- I'm wondering if perhaps it's a particular reaction your body has to drugs in general, especially if it happens when you take over the counter drugs.

Weight gain from prednisone should be lost after the course of prednisone has been completed for a time. If it doesn't go away at all, there's a chance that there's something else going on underneath everything else -- especially after treatment with prednisone. Prednisone is known to unmask conditions that were not previously noticed for whatever reason.

Talk to your doctor if losing the weight is a problem.
