I got a new med for my growing list of 'goodies' from the dr. Its called Spiriva. He said its the 'great grandfather' of Atrovent and although it is for treatment of COPD, me thinks my asthma is severe enough that it sort of crosses the line. Anyway, its kind of funky with a weird sort of inhaler contraption. Anyone familiar with this med? Its just one dose a day and it doesn't seem to have side effects (is that possible???)

I've never heard of this drug personally, but I just looked it up, yes, so it is a drug, and I believe you.
It is called tiotropium, generically.
I've SEEN it, though, now that I have a look at the picture -- I've seen that little dry powder thingummy. We have one in class.
It does have side effects, but they're minimal. Basically, dry mouth, mild cough, keep the stuff out of your eyes.
I hope it works for you! Long-acting bronchodilators that don't cause the shakes, yes, this should be interesting, I will ask one of my teachers about it tomorrow!
