I started taking Advair in July 2002 and gained 14 lbs. Is it possible that Advair caould do that? The doctor said Advair won't make me gain weight.
Thanks for any advise!

Hi there. Weight gain is a popular (or unpopular) topic around here. Check out the other topic on weight gain. We've been kicking Advair and its cronnies around for a while. I think you'll find your situation is pretty common.

I have gained 10lbs. on Advair and still gaining! I got off of it a few months ago and lost weight. Got back on it the first of this year and gained the weight back! I love how it helps the asthma, but I hate the gaining. My allergist really pushes Advair. What do you do?

I stopped the Advair 10 days ago and my asthma is worse but I have lost 1 pound. It may not sound like a lot but I was constantly gaining. Hopefully I will keep on losing. I'm going to try Singulair. I'm glad to hear you lost the weight when you stopped Advair. How long did it take?

Look into taking another corticosteroid that isn't so strong.
Try pulmicort and foradil if you're in the states, which is available as a combination -- symbicort -- if you're in Canada.
It's worked wonders for me.
