Hi,
My Dr. did some lab work on me last week and mentioned that everything turned up normal except my cholesterol was a little high. I was a little surprised about this because I have always been a pretty healthy eater.
Here are the #'s:
Cholesterol: 234
HDL: 70
LDL: 137
He wrote these #'s down for me and to be honest I don't know what they mean. He didn't give me a normal range. He just said it wasn't anything to worry about. Can someone please let me know what these #'s should be at?
Thanks,
Hilery

Hilery,
Your doctor is right. You don't have anything to worry about. Your TC/HDL ratio should be 4.0 or less, and yours is 3.34. So you are okay. The ratio is more reliable than a single total cholesterol number. From the numbers you've provided, I calculate your triglycerides to be 135, which isn't too bad. In addition, the LDL/HDL ratio should be 2.5 or less, and yours is just fine at 1.96. So, all in all, I'd say you're doing pretty good.

Thanks so much for the reply. One less thing to worry about. :)
