I have been on paxil for 8 days now and it seems like everyday is just getting worse. My head feels all weird , not in a good way. I dont really feel like I am all here. Kind of feel like I'm losing control over body. I went through this about a year ago when i got on paxil, but i took myself off of it like an idiot. I remember last year during the first 2 to 3 weeks i felt like i wasnt real, and was feeling really messed up and like i was gonna die. I guess I just have to go through this again and just hope that it'll kick in soon .
Any one else go through this when starting paxil? I could sure use some responses to help get me through.

A few years ago I was on Paxil. NEVER AGAIN! I had all the same feelings you are experiancing. I felt like i wasn't real and like i was in a movie. I tried to take myself off of it. It was soooo very difficult. I was only taking 25mg. a day. I even tried to cut the pill into quarters. It affected my vision so much i was afraid to drive. I kept seeing wavy lines. I finally succeed at getting off of it, but it did take some time. Ask your Dr. for something else. And stay away from it. Good luck, Robin

I agree, try something else. I too, have tried Paxil and I felt like I was in a mental coma until I stopped taking it. I missed work, didn't leave the house, etc. That drug works for some, but not all, and if it's making you like that then try something else...Lexapro or Zoloft or something.

severe early side effects are generally a sign that the med isnt for you and should be stopped, sadly some docs dont accept these can happen and think the problems are all from the patients imagination
paxil is a prozac type, there are several other types, one is effexor, and another type may well suit you better
all valium type meds are effective against panic attacks and are safe if taken sensibly, they have no nasty side effects

well, i went through this same stuff last year when i got on it the first time . it eventually went away after a couple of weeks of hell and then i felt fine. today i actually felt decent most of the day. i might give it a little longer and see if it helps . but thanks to all for the advice.

I agree with hry33. When i told my doctor about all the side effects i was having from the Paxil, he argued with me. He saidonly a certain few have side effects. Well, why couldn't I be one of those few? Just be careful Scott, when you do decide to get off of it.

What dose are you on? A few years I went through all those symptoms and more when my family doc put me on 20mg (regular) Paxil. I quit at 8 days.
Fast forward, another doc puts me on it again (long story). He also prescribes 20mg, but I KNOW better. Started out at 10mg and had no problems at all.
(I slowly worked up to 20 but that was too much and worked back down to 10 which is a good dose for me.)
With Paxil, it certainly is NOT "one dosage fits all!"
Hope you continue to feel better!

well, today is day 10 and all day i felt so weird. i dont know how i worked, but i did. It felt like i wasnt really even doing anything but i actually was working very hard. I feel kind of unreal. I also feel like I'm drugged. I wasn't really very anxious today much, but i have felt all weird all day though. yesterday i actually had a good day, compared with today. I wonder why the paxil is making me feel this way. I dont remember going through this exact feeling last time i got on paxil. anyways, i gotta bowling league starting in an hour and i guess i have to try to get there and some how appear to be normal(dont know how that will be). it'll probably just feel like someone else is doing the bowling while I'm just in their body. Anyways, anyone else ever had these awful feelings???
